Which fuel system it has
The 2.2 CDI name covers three engine generations. With the same engine, the Sprinter and Vito use the same type of injectors as the C- and E-Class cars. The number on the injector body tells exactly which version you have.
- OM611 (Sprinter up to 2006, Vito 638, early C-Class W203 and E-Class W210): Bosch 0 445 110 injectors, Bosch CP1 pump
- OM646 (Sprinter 906 up to 2009, Vito and Viano 639 up to 2010, C-Class W203 and W204, E-Class W211): Bosch injectors, 0 445 110 solenoid or, on some versions, 0 445 115 piezo; Bosch CP3 pump
- OM651 (Sprinter 906 from 2009, Vito 639 from 2010 and Vito 447, C-Class W204, E-Class W212): Delphi pump; until 2012 some engines had Delphi piezo injectors, later Delphi or Bosch solenoid ones
What usually fails
On the OM611 and OM646 the Bosch injectors start leaking with mileage as the valve wears: the back-leak grows and the engine takes long to start, especially when hot. The early Delphi piezo injectors on the OM651 often failed, and Mercedes replaced them with solenoid injectors under a service campaign. OM651 injectors are sensitive to water in the fuel: as the valve wears the engine loses power and you get smoke and cylinder correction errors. The CP1, CP3 and Delphi pumps mostly fail because of water and dirt in the fuel.

FAQ
How do I send parts for repair?
Remove the pump or injectors, plug the openings, pack them tightly and ship via Nova Poshta. Add a note with your phone number and car model. See the Delivery & payment page for details.
Do you give a warranty?
Yes, on the work done and installed parts. The terms are stated in the report.
When will I know the price?
After the bench test we call you to agree the price. We never start a repair without your approval.
Why check the turbocharger, injectors and pump together?
The turbocharger, injectors and high-pressure pump work as one system. Worn injectors flood the cylinders with excess fuel, which overloads the turbocharger. A worn pump contaminates the whole fuel system with metal shavings and damages the injectors. A faulty turbocharger delivers the wrong boost, so the engine runs with the wrong air-fuel balance. Repairing just one part often means the problem comes back, so we recommend having these units checked together: on the bench we find the root cause instead of only fixing the symptom.
What should I do if I notice signs of a fault?
Don't put it off: a small fault quickly becomes an expensive one. Don't rely on “miracle additives”: they don't restore worn parts. Don't drive if you hear grinding, see heavy smoke or the oil pressure drops. Get in touch: we'll advise you, test the removed parts on the bench and tell you honestly whether a repair is needed and which one.
